Tenchu 4 confirmed for the PSP

Wii Nintendo Tenchu 4 Ubisofu

According to this Famitsu scan, Tenchu 4 will be coming to the PSP afterall. Rumors abound last month about a possible port of Tenchu: Shadow Assassins (the official title in the US) proved to be true — the game will be released in Japan on February 12th of next year for 5,040 yen. Ubisoft’s US press release for the game issued back in September indicated the game will be exclusive to the Wii, so no one knows yet whether we’ll get the port here in the States. Check out the trailer in full post

Apple VP says PSP is the ‘past’

The iPhone is the “future of gameplay.” Well, that is, if you believe Apple’s VP of iPod marketing, Greg Joswiak. In an interview with T3, he says that the iPhone and iPod Touch offer “the future of gameplay … whereas a lot of these devices [DS and PSP] are more in the past.”

So, why is the iPhone the future? Maybe it’s because it’s all about a touch screen … but, isn’t that what the Nintendo DS does so incredibly well? Maybe it’s because of the graphics hardware? We don’t think so (see image, above).

According to Joswiak, the reason why iPhone and iPod will become the future of games is “the electronic distribution of the apps.” He argues that delivering games directly to the consumer is a win-win for game developers and consumers. Buyers can get games instantly and for cheap, while developers no longer have to worry about licensing and sales targets.

Read .txt files in PSP without any 3rd Party Software…!

First you need a .txt file to get started. Choose a short one for practice.

It is very important that the file name is short. You will have to type it in, so it will better be short. Rename text files to lower cap names without spaces and special characters - like house.txt. Don’t use .doc or .rtf files, the PSP cannot display them (by this method) ! Convert them to plain text.

Ok, now connect the PSP with the USB cable to your PC/notebook and open the Windows file explorer (Win+E). On your PSP open the menu. Open "Settings" -> "USB Connection". Now a new drive letter should appear on your Windows file explorer.

Draw the .txt file to the drive letter of your PSP (e.g. the memory card). That’s it for the technical part. I hear some people yelling at their diplays now "What!? That’s it?? Are you kidding?!". Wait for it… we’re doing this step-by-step.

Via : Engadget
We know they’re hitting the streets, and we’ve already seen some unboxing pics and a nasty gutting, but we felt we needed to give Sony’s newPSP-3000 the proper treatment. As you can tell by the photos, there’s not much new here, though as you should know, the guts are where it’s all going down (new screen, built-in microphone). Still it never hurts to take a close look at a shiny new toy… so enjoy yourselves and in the full post.

Play games on ur PSP with DualShock 3 Controller

pspplusdualshock_600b With only one analog nub, the PSP can’t seem to nail down a comfortable first or third-person shooter control scheme on its own, but a new tech called "PSP Plus" will allow users to pair the handheld with the PlayStation 3’s more genre-capable SIXAXIS or DualShock 3 controllers.

Sony announced PSP Plus at the Tokyo Game Show today but didn’t provide much info about how it works, so we’re not sure if it’s the same technology that was patented last year.

We do know there’s a pretty outrageous catch: you’ll need to connect your PSP to your PS3 to use the controller. With only one game supported (Resistance Retribution), we prefer just about any homemade hack to this solution, and if you’re at home with your PS3, why not play Resistance 2 instead? It’s what Kratos would do.

PSP firmware 5.00 also coming soon to US, PC Store temporarily down

While firmware 5.00 was confirmed for Japanese release this week, it appears that America will also follow suit. The big update in 5.00 is the ability to access the PSN and PLAYSTATION Store directly from the PSP. The PC-based Store will be temporarily down in the interim.

While this is great for our Mac-owning friends that weren’t able to purchase games in the past, this deal will be far more enticing if it ensured that our weekly PSN updates were slightly more robust than wallpaper downloads. Let’s hope that the US can have a downloadable lineup as great as Japan’s.

Nintendo launching new DS with camera, music player and more

Nintendo has plans to launch a new version of the popular Nintendo DS handheld game console by the end of this year, and it sounds like they are doing more than just adding new colors this time. The new model, yet to be named, will feature a camera and music player, putting itself in competition with a larger number of portable devices and opening up a whole mess of new game possibilities.

This news does not come straight from Nintendo, or at least not yet. It does however come from the Sunday edition of The Nikkei Business Daily, which is a well renowned newspaper in Japan. The new DS from Nintendo is expected to cost around $190 in Japan compared to the $158 price tag on the current DS. The DS goes for $129 currently in the United States.
