EDGE Magazine has brought us some real interesting details about the new installment of Prince of Persia.
We all know the team behind this new installment is the one who had given us an amazing trilogy, Sands of Time, and recently beautifully looking game “Assassin’s Creed”. You’ll be happy to know that Prince of Persia is using the same game engine, Anvil, as Assassin’s Creed.
If you are thinking of any link between this one and previous one, you can forget it. Producer Ben Mattes has cleared all doubts saying, “The Sands of Time are dead and gone.” This is enough to tell that a whole new chapter is opening. Proven by the fact that you are not going to start as a noble prince but as a drifter.
“We’re starting afresh, in the same universe, and we wanted to bring something new while keeping what worked before,” creative director Jean-Christophe Guyot.

This time, Prince of Persia has entered in Open-World. Well it’s not like Assassin’s Creed but it’s definitely non-linear. Player can progress through the game in his preferred order. “We really wanted to create a POP experience where the player has a much greater authorship over their global experience, so that it wasn’t a completely linear game where they played through it once, and that was it.”
Fighting is also changed in POP and it’s not like Assassin’s Creed. Player will not go up against a group enemies instead player will fight only one bad guy at a time. Like a Duel.
“Every fight in the game should feel like a boss fight. The feeling of being against a very difficult adversary who’s every bit the swordsman as you are, and you have to use all your strategy and skill just to get past him; maybe you don’t kill him, just drive him off. That’ll happen often — you’ll drive an enemy away, then they’ll stalk you to return and fight again.”
Gamers can except totally different experience this time around. Prince of Persia will be released on PS3, X360 and PC.
