Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic

Posted by Usman on July 23, 2008

image

Another great yet creative title for PS3 coming up.

Imagine having a Kung Fu Fight with string puppets, except you don’t have to worry about getting the strings tangled up, and you don’t have to have a kung fu fight. You control the characters on screen with the controller – there are no pre-scripted animations in the game – it’s all up to you – to walk, you have to literally pick up one foot, then place it in front of the other.

Sounds tricky maybe, but it doesn’t take long before you’re spinning through the air like a Russian gymnast.

This means you get to create your own style, and can act out whatever you feel like, and of course, if you really feel like it, you can have a fight.

It’s about Chi power.

Check Out the Ps3 Game play as well.

See how you can also play it on pc after the break…

iPhone 2.0 unlocked, iPhone 3G will hopefully follow soon…

Posted by Usman on July 22, 2008

Last weekend saw the introduction of an unlock solution for the latest iPhone firmware. The first-gen iPhone users will now be able to enjoy 2.0 firmware with any SIM card. The iPhone 3G is not there yet, but there’s some progress and we hope it would get unlocked some time soon too.

The popular iPhone Dev Team has come up with the latest version of their all-in-one Pwnage tool for setting your iPhones free via customized firmwares - much like the Windows Mobile community does it. However with the Pwnage Tool you can cook your own firmwares customized to your liking.

For those of you that are new to Pwning here’s a brief and simplified explanation. You take an original iPhone firmware file (freely downloadable), you run it through the Pwnage tool customizing stuff on the way (such as pre-installed applications, setups, even custom graphics) and finally you apply it to the iPhone the regular iTunes way. It’s that simple.

The new Pwnage 2.0 tool now allows you to (h)activate, jailbreak and unlock the first-gen iPhone running the latest 2.0 software. It’s a major upgrade to the iPhone functionality and actually makes the original iPhone software identical to the iPhone 3G.

A robot takes on humans in air hockey.

Posted by Usman on July 12, 2008

First, a supercomputer beats a chess master. Then, an artificial intelligence program deals defeat to a poker champion. Next: A robot takes on humans in air hockey.

image

An upgraded robot designed by General Electric Fanuc (GEF) and programmed by Nuvation Research Corp. (San Jose, Calif.) can beat most human air hockey players, its developers claim.

The robot is powered by a special pc-board that can instantly switch between Freescale Semiconductor’s 8-bit Flexis and its 32-bit ColdFire microcontrollers running identical C language programs. The 8-bit version lost to most human players, but the 32-bit microcontroller defeated even the best human air hockey players by a ratio of three to one.

“Good air hockey players can score against the robot if they try really really hard. But its pretty obvious that the human is the underdog–for one thing, the audience cheers whenever the human makes a goal,” quipped Michael Worry, president and CEO of Nuvation.

Early Testing day.

iPhone 3G Disassembly

Posted by Usman on July 11, 2008

Every that that has a start comes has an end, lolz …iFixit guys did it again,,, They disassembled the new Iphone 3G same day of iPhone 3G release… Milllions of people are dying for it standing in lines to get it, But iFixit guys did it the different way.

image  image

They performed this disassembly immediately following the iPhone launch at 12:01 July 11, 2008, New Zealand time. That’s 5:01 AM, July 10, Pacific time for those of us who aren’t islanders.

It’s open!
  • For comparison, here’s a link to last-year’s iPhone disassembly.

  • Our predictions:

    • Apple-labeled Samsung processor - correct

    • Either some kind of GPS chip, or none at all. If there isn’t a GPS chip, then it could be built into the processor. - unconfirmed

    • Lots of chips with only Apple markings on them. Sometimes we can tell what they are, but most of the time you have to take the chip itself apart first. - correct, but this one’s cheating

  • Removing the display!

Googling the Easy Way

Posted by Vicky on April 10, 2008

Here i am gonna tell you how you could improve your Google searches. Now these tips may work for other search engines but the syntax may vary slightly so just look at the help on the site you are searching on to clarify that.

                                                      logo

There are a few basic things to know about Google searches . First of all Capitalization is not important nor our most punctuation marks, so Google will ignore your capitalization and most punctuation marks. However the ordering of terms, if you are using multiple terms in the search field is important, hence your search result will vary depending on the order of those terms.

Google also ignore common words such as ‘where’ or ‘how’ or single digits or single letters . There is a way to force Google to search for a certain word , and all you have to do is to include a plus sign ‘+’ without any space before or after the plus sign. This way you can force Google to search for the word after the plus sign

Google also incorporate stemming so if the ending of the word varies , Google will search for these variation if its ing or ed or whaterever.

So interms of boolean searches , Google search the search field by default by an AND operator. so you dont need to insert an AND in the search terms to search them all together, however you can insert an OR operator. This capital OR will tell Google that you wanna search  term to the left or the right of the OR operator.
